This break used to be a rare quality
right hand point break. It was spotted
by Bruce Brown during the filming of
The Endless Summer I. It was known as
the best wave in Kamogawa Japan. However
a harbor jetty was built in 1993 and
it completely destroyed the wave.
The
destruction of this point break was the
impetus for the creation of the Japanese
branch of Surfrider. Unfortunately at
least 55% of Japan’s coastline
is now covered in concrete. Japan has
one of the most armored coastlines in
the world. |
