World Surfing Reserves maintains a rolling application process, and sites include those that have been fully dedicated and implemented as WSRs, those that have been approved but not yet dedicated, and those that are going through the nomination/application process but haven’t yet been approved.

Huanchaco, Peru

Approved: January 2013; Dedicated: October 26, 2013. Huanchaco is known as a destination in Peru for its consistent, clean surf and ancient pre-Colombian history as a seafaring town.

Ericeira, Portugal

Approved: February 2011; Dedicated: October 2011 Ericeira is a world-class surf zone that has a variety of waves ranging from beachbreak to powerful reef breaks.
