Conservation International and Save the Waves today announced a partnership that will expand World Surfing Reserves across the globe and mobilize the surfing community and the $11 billion surfing industry on behalf of ocean conservation.

It’s official! Save The Waves’ Endangered Waves App has been awarded Best Conservation App in HeroX’s Big Ocean Button Challenge. Save The Waves beat out more than 300 competitors to win the award for best conservation app. Endangered Waves App received more than 200+ votes in October, the second most out of any app in the competition.
This represents the seventh Surfonomics study by Save The Waves and will enable the Guarda WSR to determine the economic value of waves and surfing to their local community and, in turn, help decision makers understand the importance of coastal conservation policies.
Martha Lavinia is a world class beach break on King Island in Bass Strait. Known for it’s perfect ‘A-frame’ waves formed by swell wrapping around both sides of the island, Tassal has been granted a permit to explore options for a salmon farm operation immediately east of Martha Lavinia Beach.
