Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, is facing a direct threat to its coastline and marine ecosystems with the proposed expansion of the Port of El Sauzal, which aims to increase container capacity from 0.4 to 6 million units per year. Surfers, fishers, environmentalists, and residents have united to defend the waves and biodiversity that make this bay a globally unique place, especially because Bahía de Todos Santos was declared the Sixth World Surfing Reserve in 2014, a recognition of its environmental and cultural significance worldwide.
