Louis White

Environmental Science Associates (ESA)

Louis is a registered civil engineer with more than 11 years of experience in planning and design of coastal management, restoration, and sea level rise adaptation projects along the Pacific coast of the U.S. With the environmental planning and design firm, Environmental Science Associates, he has been instrumental in several major coastal restoration and climate change adaptation projects, including the Ocean Beach Master Plan in San Francisco and the Surfers’ Point Managed Retreat Project in Ventura. Louis and his colleagues often partner with Surfrider Foundation, and worked with Save the Waves at Ocean Beach in 2010 to propose alternatives to the construction of emergency shore armoring south of Sloat Boulevard. This effort highlighted a need for a multi-objective approach to infrastructure management that considers beach recreation and ecology, which was subsequently elevated through the Ocean Beach Master Plan.
