Save The Waves Coalition and UGG® are proud to announce a new partnership to protect coastlines and surf ecosystems around the globe.
Save The Waves is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and protecting the coastal environment with a focus on the surf zone. Protecting surf ecosystems in turn protects people’s well-being and connection to the ocean, protects sustainable coastal livelihoods, and protects ecological resilience.
“With their programs so deeply ingrained in the surfing community, the Save The Waves team was a natural choice and perfect partnership for UGG,” said Ian Stewart, Vice President of Global Marketing at Deckers Brands. “UGG was founded by a young surfer, so supporting our cherished waves and coastlines is really a way for us to return to our roots.”
A longstanding company with global recognition, UGG® has offered their platform and brand to help Save The Waves raise awareness and support for the World Surfing Reserves, Save The Waves Film Festival, and new mobile app which seeks to mobilize thousands of surfers as crowdsourced coastal stewards.
“The UGG brand’s surf roots, and their real dedication to protecting the places we love has been inspirational,” said Nik Strong-Cvetich, Save The Waves’ Executive Director. “They have really focused on helping us meet our mission and are deeply committed to having an impact on our coastal places.”
With the UGG® brand’s support, Save The Waves was able to tell their behind-the-scenes story of what coastal conservation looks like, producing several short films with acclaimed Santa Barbara filmmaker Morgan Maassen.
The short film will accompany Save The Waves Film Festival, the world’s only international surf and environmental film festival hosted and organized by the nonprofit to inspire and educate audiences at tour stops around the globe.
