Many of us who live and surf in Santa Cruz know that Cowell’s Beach has chronic water quality issues. Through the Santa Cruz World Surfing Reserve we have convened a working group of local experts and stakeholders to finally get to the bottom of things. We have been working on this issue for the past year and we invite you to a public meeting on Monday, February 1st to share information, discuss our next steps with City Council’s support, and hear your feedback on the issue.
Cowell’s Beach has topped Heal the Bay’s Beach Bummer the last 5 years for high bacteria counts. The recently formed Cowell’s Working Group, led by Save The Waves Coalition, has been working diligently to identify the primary sources of bacteria and seek solutions to improve beach conditions.
Come learn about the issue and the latest progress, ask questions, and find out how you can get involved at this informational meeting.
